13. lib.rario.us

Love tools like Goodreads and LibraryThing for tracking your books but wonder about your Music collection, DVDs or games?

lib.rario.us might be the solution for you! This online cataloging tool allows you to catalog DVDs, musics CDs and video games in addtion to your books!

You can add items two ways, by dragging a bookmarklet to your tool bar that allows you to add items as you're browing Amazon or by typing them in manually. You can also import your library from LibrayThing.

Like so many of the online catalogs you can add tags to your collection, write reviews and see who else owns them.

Interesting. I would liked to have explored a little further without registering. But the registration process is really simple. I liked being able to see the cover of the video, although these could be made larger. Something about the layout of the site spelled new or amateur...h'mm (no big deal).

I like the automatic links to Amazon. This way, I'm able to focus on the review rather than spending time linking items. Already, this service is a quick, easy way to share reviews, but it's obviously not finished yet. The first time I attempted to post a review, it crashed. It will be interesting to watch how it grows.

I enjoy the quick linking part of system. I prefer the star system over writing a review. It seems easy and fun and like most things you get out of it what you put into it.

The Amazon search does make it easy to find what I looked for without needing the items number. I think the library might be able to use this for movie reviews if it was some how linked in the catalog but I'm not sure if it would be more helpful than reviews on Amazon and BN.com yet.

I registered and it was extremely easy. All you have to do is put in a username and a password and thats it. I had a choice to add more to my profile afterwards but wasn't necassary. That was by far the easiest registration yet!

I could see using Google's map application to share information about a recent vacation route or destination with friends and family. It provides a chance to put a visual to where you travelled to and lets you describe things you saw and did on the trip. Then those interested about your trip could visit the map to check it out.

Ignore my last post - I am catching up on lessons in 2.1 and inadvertently copied and pasted my comment about Googlemaps from the previous lesson. I will try to re-post my lib.rario.us comment.

This looks like another way to share your personal collection with others complete with reviews. I liked adding my personal review with my items. I'm not a gamer, though, so the cataloging of games aspect of this wouldn't be helpful for me. I could just stick to a couple other applications targeted at certain forms of media - books, music, etc.

Seriously, what will they think of next? The stuff that's out there I don't know about could fill a dozen libraries! I don't know if I will use lib.rario.us much personally, but I agree with everyone else the registration process was a breeze and if I have occasion to recommend it to someone I will!

Personally, I don't think I will use lib.rario.us . It was very easy to register. I think maybe when I have a bigger music or DVD collection it will be very useful like Library Thing for all my books.

I enjoyed looking through the reviews. But it's probably not something I would choose to use at this time as my DVD & CD collection is very limited.

This will be an interesting one to use. I just need a little more time! Joining was so easy!

I don't think I'll be using this one but it is always interesting to see new systems that are popping up.

I don't have as many DVDs or CDs as my kids, but they sure seem to like to take off with my stuff! This would be a good way of keeping track of what I should have, and then sending out the hounds to retrieve what they "borrow". Half the stuff I am missing, I don't even realize until I find it in their possession.

Great, I really needed to find a place to catalog my music. Many hours could potentially be spent in this endeavor. Thanks a lot. :P
Anyway, this site almost seems like there's too much going on. I'd prefer it if it wasn't all types of media. Almost seems like it's trying to do too much. Perhaps it will be more streamlined as it develops.

Registering was a breeze but I really don't know if I have enough stuff to need to catalog it. I would use the review system though.

Yet another interesting and potentially useful site. I read about these sites and think, "Wow, cool," and wonder who has the time to use them.
