Most of know about Youtube and some of us love it, but it can be hard to find what you're looking for in the mix of videos of people cat chasing string, the neighbors kid playing t-ball or other less than desirable videos. You know what I'm talking about. Enter Teacher Tube.Our goal is to provide an online community for sharing instructional
videos. We seek to fill a need for a more educationally focused, safe venue for
teachers, schools, and home learners. It is a site to provide anytime, anywhere
professional development with teachers teaching teachers. As well, it is a site
where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a
concept or skill.
A safer place to direct parents, teachers, at home schools, and children for great videos!

Wow! This is neat! I knew that they had other types of youtube but not teacher tube. This is also really helpfull to the PCC and Ref desk, and of course all other desks!

I had no idea there were other "tubes" either. Is there some sort of "meta-tube" site that lists them? Or maybe searches them all? (Like the old meta-search engines, that would search a bunch of other search engines simulatneously.)
I was curious about these other tubes, so I tried to find out more on Wikipedia - alas, it let me down for the first time. Googling I found a bunch of positive comments about Teacher Tube - but one teacher said - the filter his school district uses - excluded this web site. How ironic! and how frustrating that must be!
Well the only one I can think of right now is Godtube. My sister-n-law is always posting videos from that website
Who wouldn't want to make a MRRL video? TeacherTube seems like a great resource... but is running S L O W today. Not having to browse through a billion and one anime fan music vids makes it worth it, though. I think it's only a matter of time before the number of themed spin-offs of YouTube explodes.
This looks really neat. I'm going to share this site with my friends who are teachers and/or have kids too. It did take a long time to load the video today too.

I know we're already past this lesson, but I just read (with no little chagrin) about another "tube": porntube. I'm not kidding. One of the (many) beauties of Youtube is that it was reliably porn free. So now, if you go to porntube, at least you've been warned about what you'll get.
Me too, I had no idea of other tubes. This idea is tubular and wonderful and makes me want to teach again, not really but it is a wonderful idea for teachers. I went to Godtube but I didn't sanction it, so they really shouldn't use my identity for there own purposes.
What a great idea. It is frustrating wading through all the videos just to find one that you can use.
I had no idea that other 'tube' sites are available. I will have to look at some when I have the chance.
This is fabulous! I love it! I have just watched an informative lesson on Microsoft Publisher and a humorous educational video entitled "Mr. Duey raps the fractions." I appreciate knowing about this so much. It's something I bookmarked to use personally and I know there will be opportunity on the Ref. desk to introduce it to our patrons.

@Heather, I'd love to, unfortunately we don't have a video camera Although the Pink Camera does do video.... I'm not sure what we'd put up though/
I knew there was a Teacher Tube but I have never visited it. I am always putting info tidbits out to the teachers and I think that I will suggest it to our eMints teachers since they have easy access to equipment and SmartBoards in the class to show them on. They could make their own demonstration videos, for experiments or whatever, post them on TeacherTube and then use them in class so they can mingle with their students instead of lecturing and trying to help at the same time. Good ideas on there!
What a great site. There is just so much stuff on YouTube that you have to sift through to find anything useful. It is convient that a user doesn't have to look through thousands of funny cats and dancing dogs to get to something educational. Of course, sometimes funny cats hits the spot.
That video was so cute (even though it took a long time to load properly)! This seems like a great way to introduce younger viewers and parents to the world of online video without having to sift through all the "junk" on YouTube.
I think there are others like the wonderhowto one Bobbi mentioned. I wrote myself a note about them and put it somewhere. If I find it, I'll post the info.
